Gamete Bank

A bank of primarily cryopreserved Callithrix jacchus sperm samples has been created for research. The samples are from a selection of Callithrix jacchus males in the DPZ colony.
We also can offer fresh semen or washed unfrozen sperm.

Potential use for these samples may vary from artificial insemination for genetic management to basic research on the physiology of sperm and further improvements in cryopreservation techniques.

Samples from other species which are also represented in the DPZ are also in the collection:

Macaca mulatta

Macaca fascicularis

Saguinus oedipus

Saimiri sciureus

We invite enquiries from potential users both from scientific institutions and from zoos and primate colonies, concerning both our already stored samples and collection of new semen samples from the animals which are maintained in the DPZ.

Further we can offer on an individually tailored basis, collection of sperm from primates at your institution, and storage of the samples for you.

Please contact Dr. Penelope Nayudu (pnayudu @ gwdg.de) for gamete requests.
