The Italian National Research Council (CNR) is a public organization of great relevance in the field of scientific and technological research of Italy, with scientific research institutes distributed over the country. The Institute of Neurobiology and Molecular Medicine (INMM) will be involved in the European Primate Network. The main areas of research of the Institute are related to the molecular mechanisms of cell functions, with particular reference to the nervous system, experimental immunology, cell proliferation and death. Furthermore, studies on the mechanisms of appearance, prevention and therapy of human diseases, from the genetic-molecular level to the clinic one, are performed. As part of the Institute there are the facilities and colonies of non-human primates that have originated in 1981. Since then, the specialised and competent personnel give its scientific and technical support to the research projects performed on non-human primates.
