The Italian National Research Council (CNR) is a public organization of great relevance in the field of scientific and technological research of Italy, with scientific research institutes distributed over the country.
The Cellular Biology and Neurobiology Institute (IBCN) was instituted on December 21, 2010 joining research groups of INMM (Institute of Neurobiology and Molecular Medicine), Cell Biology Institute (IBC) and Neuroscience Institute (IN) of Rome, to carry out scientific investigations within the CNR Life Science Department, in particular along the following main themes:

• Genotype-phenotype correlations including behavioral studies, mouse genetics and animal modeling to study to study mechanisms inducing neurodegenerative, muscular, metabolic, inflammatory and cancerous pathologies.

• Study of molecular and cell mechanisms involved in biologici process regulations, like neural and muscular development and differentiation, cell cyle, cell proliferation and neoplastic transformation.

• Production, storage, dissemination and primary phenotyping of murine mutants, models of human diseases (INFRAFRONTIER).

As part of the Institute there are the facilities and colonies of non-human primates that have originated in 1981. Since then, the specialised and competent personnel give its scientific and technical support to the research projects performed on non-human primates.
